Excursion A: Salzburg for first timers or freshen up your memory

Salzburg is the fourth-largest town and the capital of the federal country Salzburg.
It has a lot to offer:
A city walk with an Austrian Guide will take you to the most important sights of this town.
The Old Town is internationally renowned for its baroque architecture.
The historic center is best preserved.
For more than 1.000 years Salzburg was an independent principality – so which nationality did Mozart have who was born here 1756?
During the time of the Holy Roman Empire the seat of the Archbishop was here.
You will visit the Cathedral, St. Peters Abbey and cemetery, Mirabell castle and gardens. In the pedestrian area “Getreidegasse” you will look at Mozart`s Birthplace.
In this lane you can also admire various beautifully forged guild-shields.
During your visit you will get to know some sights where “Sound of Music” was filmed.
If you like, you can take the funicular up to Hohensalzburg fortress or visit inside Mozart`s Birthplace
There will be free time for lunch or coffee, at own expense – (test the sweetness of “Mozartkugeln,” the famous handmade round Mozart chocolate) and/or for shopping before the return by bus to our hotel.

Here we will visit a renovated house of the 16th century, done by the manufacturing company Tostmann. The name Tostmann stands for a firm founded in 1949 and makes traditional dresses and festive costumes. Until today all the “Dirndls” are manufactured exclusively in Austria in their own workshops. An English speaking Guide will lead us through the “Dirndl-Museum” on the 1st floor.
Downstairs, in this house – where also a coffee-shop is run – a so-called “Bandlkramerey” is installed: An old grocer-shop was reconstructed here, where you can buy table linen, baking dishes, pottery, preserving jars and a sort of “Lilien Porcelain”
After having enjoyed this beautifully renovated house you will have the opportunity to visit the nearby Tostmann-shop too.
Free time for lunch or coffee (at own expense) in the house or terrace of the “Bandlkramerey” is also possible, before you return to the hotel.

Bus ride to one of the most famous sights of Austria – the world heritage market town of Hallstatt!
Hallstatt is a very idyllic village. Its houses are nestled on the mountain ridges overlooking the lake of Hallstatt.
This town has about 700 inhabitants, but millions of people from all over the world –especially Chinese people – like to visit this place. (There exists a copy in China)
An old mining train will take you to “SALZWELTEN” into the Salzberg to experience by a guided tour the history of the mining of salt – the White Gold – and the life of the miners.
After this visit and return down, walk through the picturesque world heritage village of Hallstatt. Have a look into the “Bone House” – a collection of skulls in St. Michael`s Church, see the Catholic Church with the famous altar, the market place and enjoy lunch or coffee at the lake-side. Return by bus to our hotel.

FINAL TOUR D: Boat and walk Mondsee for all (2 a.m. – …)
A short bus ride will take us to the lake where we will enter an excursion ship.
For about 50 minutes we will enjoy a circular trip and the panorama of the
mountains like Schafberg and Drachenwand
Thereafter a short walk from the pier brings us up to an old farmhouse – “The Rauchhaus”.
It is a fully equipped open-air museum situated above the center of Mondsee.In the village below the main sight is the mighty gothic cathedral “St. Michael”, a former monastery church with baroque elements of art (Master of Mondsee). It was founded 774 and dissolved at the end of the 18th century. – now it is a cultural center.
Here the wedding scene of Sound of Music was filmed in 1965.
The center of the village shows beautifully decorated old houses from the 16th to the 18th century.
We will enjoy coffee together (at own expense) before returning by bus to the hotel.

Sunday morning would be a good time for partners to play 9 holes at the picturesque, but challenging 9-hole golf course “Golfclub Drachenwand”. Distance from hotel Eichingerbauer is a one minute car drive. For men without a car, pooling could be arranged.
